Summer of Change #21: Kill time

Time is a human construct. It doesn’t actually exist. As a human that is one of the hardest things to grasp. We learned linear time from the time we were children. We know there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and so forth.

And yet…time doesn’t actually exist. We made it up. We believe in it, so in a way it exists for as long as we believe it is true, it will appear to be so. But when we step out of time, refusing it to run out lives, and realize the universe does not work in a timely manner because there is no time ‘out there’, it opens up a whole new avenue of possibilities.

For instance, there is no waiting. Since time does not exist, if we ask for something, the universe could give it to us literally within moments of asking. (I’ve had this happen before.) Of course, that always is the worst part when you have to wait for something to come to pass. But it isn’t that the universe needs the ‘time’ to prepare your goal. More than likely, the universe needs you to change so that you are when and where you need to be to make that goal a reality.

Want an example? Say you want a cookie. You close your eyes, imagine the cookie, crunch it, taste the amazing chocolate, swallow and sigh. And then let it go. You quickly forget about it as you turn back to work only to have a co-worker or family member drop a cookie on your desk.

How about another one? Your goal is to win the Boston Marathon, but you’ve never run a day in your life. The chances of you winning said marathon are not very good, but the universe has every intention of helping you win your dream. You know those little thoughts that say things like “I should go jog for a half hour today”? Those are probably your intuition trying to get your attention so that you can be who and where you need to be to win the Boston Marathon.

So for today, take as much ‘time’ as you can and kill it. Take down or cover all the clocks. Shut down the computer. Turn off the television set. Remove your watch and put it in a drawer. Sit quietly, wait for inspiration/intuition to step in and then go and do, ignoring time completely. It won’t be easy at first as humans are a bit slave to time, but over ‘time’ you will begin to not notice the passage of this thing that does not exist.

As you step out of time, there is no longer a feeling of 'waiting for something to happen' as how can one wait when there is no time? Thus the life you wanted truly forms in front of you.
